Content Gating

Content gating lets you require a form submission before a prospect can access your content on standalone content hubs and on outbound landing pages.

How gating works

Add an email gate to the content you want to protect. Visitors submit the form, then get access to the gated content. Submissions are tracked back to the account and campaign.

Where content gating is available

Content gating is available for:

  • Standalone Content Hubs

  • Outbound Landing Pages

Content hubs

Group your assets (videos, files, links) into a shareable content hub, with optional gating.

  • Downloadable PDFs: prospects can download PDFs directly from your content hubs.

  • The content hub experience has a cleaner layout.

Email gating options

When email gating is enabled, visitors submit their first name, last name, and work email address before the asset is shown.

You can configure the following:

  • Require work email: turning this on enables gating. Visitors must enter a business email address; free email providers are not accepted.

  • Two factor authentication: visitors receive a 6-digit code by email and must enter it before they can access the asset.

  • Allowed email domains: restrict access to specific company domains. If no domains are added, any valid work email can be used.

How to enable content gating

  1. Open the asset you want to gate in Userled.

  2. Open its gating settings:

    • For a content hub, open the asset and go to the Email Gating tab.

    • For an outbound landing page, open the editor sidebar and go to Template Settings.

  3. Turn on Require work email to enable gating. Visitors will need a business email address to access the asset.

  4. Optional: enable Two factor authentication.

  5. Optional: add one or more Allowed email domains.

  6. Save.

Once saved, visitors need to complete the gating flow before they can view the asset.

How two factor authentication works

If two factor authentication is on, visitors first submit their name and work email address. Userled then sends a 6-digit verification code to that address. The visitor must enter the code before the gated asset is shown.

Restricting access by domain

Use Allowed email domains when you only want people from specific companies to access an asset. For example, adding example.com means only visitors with an address ending in @example.com can access it. If the allowed domain list is empty, any valid work email address can be used.

Duplicating gated assets

Gating settings are saved on the asset itself. If you duplicate a campaign, template, or asset, review the copied asset's gating settings before publishing.
